At the foot of the Tatra Mountains, just 100 kilometers from Krakow, is the winter capital of Poland - Zakopane. It is a place of worship, beloved by hundreds of tourists, both in the winter ski season and in the summer.
Very many agencies and tour operators cruise trips to Zakopane from Krakow. There are organized day tours and tourists are carried by comfortable air-conditioned coaches or in the case of a higher standard tours for individuals, limousine transportation is available.
One-day trip in Zakopane begins with entry by a rail train to Gubałówka, which offers a beautiful view of the Tatra Mountains. You should also visit the old part of Zakopane, where are perfectly preserved highland cottage. Many of them were designed by Stanislaw Witkiewicz, who is regarded as the creator of Zakopane style.
An indispensable element of stay in Zakopane should be a walk through Krupówki - the longest in the city promenade, surrounded by regional shops, restaurants, cafes, boutiques and shops with traditional food. At Krupówki can also buy a small puppy of Tatra sheepdog, which can be quite odd souvenir from a trip to Zakopane.
